Bucs Add Four to 2022-2023 Coaching Staff

FORT MYERS, Fla.- A couple of familiar faces and a couple of new ones will be gracing the sidelines for the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers this season as four new assistant coaches have joined the Bucs staff for the 2022-2023 season. 

Darrin Wallace returns to the FSW Men's Basketball bench after serving as an Assistant Coach with current FSW Head Coach Eric Murphy from 2016-2018.  Wallace has deep roots in Southwest Florida which includes time coaching at the high school, junior college, and Division I level with FGCU.  As a prep coach, Wallace coached and developed over 100 players that moved onto the collegiate level.

A former NJCAA National Pitcher of the Year, former Buc Kelsi Collins also returns to the Purple and Aqua this season to begin her coaching career after completing her degree at Embry Riddle University last Spring.  Collins was 40-2 with a 1.40 ERA and 304 strikeouts for the Bucs in her two seasons in Fort Myers, leading the Bucs to the National Tournament as a freshman after being named the Region VIII Tournament MVP before being named the National Pitcher of the Year as a sophomore in 2019. 

New FSW Head Baseball Coach Zac Cole rounded out his staff with a pair of new faces who will join the Bucs dugout in 2022-2023. 

Matt Schaeffer, a Suncoast Conference competitor of the Bucs from 2017-2020 at South Florida State joins the Purple and Aqua after helping lead the Panthers pitching staff to a program record for wins and strikeouts.  While at South Florida State, Schaeffer helped 31 players continue their careers at the next level.

Also joining the Bucs staff is Billy Henley who most recently served as an assistant coach at Francis Marion University.  Henley has worked across nearly every level possible over the last 10 years including high school, NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, as well as collegiate summer baseball before joining the Bucs staff this fall.
