Bucs Allen Named 2YSIDA Sports Information Director of the Year

GREENWOOD, Ind.- Tuesday, 2YSIDA (Two-Year Sports Information Directors of America) announced that Florida SouthWestern SID Roy Allen has been named the 2021-2022 National Sports Information Director of the Year.

Allen wrapped up his fourth year at FSW in 2021-2022, watching another historic season for Buccaneer Athletics.  FSW posted the highest winning percentage of any NJCAA Division I athletic department in the country with an .816 combined winning percentage while four teams claimed Conference Championships, two finished in the top five at the NJCAA National Tournament, and the Bucs Softball team won their second straight NJCAA National Championship.

Allen promoted an FSW record 44 All-Conference athletes in 2021-2022 as well as eight NJCAA All-Americans, and an NJCAA best two CoSIDA Academic All-Americans.  28 FSW sophomores signed with NCAA Division I schools in 2022.

Managing and creating content for the Bucs social media pages, FSW pages were seen by over 400,000 unique users in 2021-2022, upping the Bucs follower counts by over 25% during the year to push them over 15,000 in total.  A big addition to the Bucs social media content this year was featuring live in game highlights to allow fans to have real time video highlights from their favorite FSW athletes.  Allen's creative work was honored by 2YSIDA last year as he claimed awards in three of five categories including his game notes and schedule posters being named the best in the country. A writer by trait, Allen produces game notes for all FSW home games for fans to get the inside scoop on the Bucs and also produces in depth guides for postseason events for the media members and broadcasters who may be covering the Bucs for the first time.

"I am very humbled and honored to be named the 2YSIDA Sports Information Director of the Year. There are so many hard working and deserving SIDs in our organization and to be someone to represent that group is special to me" Allen said. "For me this award is more of an FSW award than it is an individual award as without the success and caliber of the student-athletes and coaches that we have, my work wouldn't be seen nearly as much as it is. They make my job of promoting them pretty easy."
