Alex Soloid began his tenure with the FSW volleyball program in July 2019.  He will be alongside Head Coach Thais Baziquetto-Allen when the Bucs begin competition in the fall of 2019. Soloid comes to FSW with an impressive resume, arriving in Fort Myers with both an extensive and accomplished playing career as well as a well-decorated coaching career; Soloid collected a total of 15 international medals over his playing and coaching career. 

Soloid spent last year as an assistant coach at Jefferson College in Missouri where he was assisted in many areas of the program including: organizing and conducting training, scheduling, recruiting, game analysis and tutoring. 

Prior to joining the staff at JeffCo, Soloid spent time at Arizona Western Colleg as an assistant.

Before making his way to the United States, Soloid spent four years as the Head Coach of the San Pedro Volleyball Club in San Pedro de Alcantara, Spain. 

From 2009 to 2011, Soloid coached the Men’s Volleyball Professional Volleyball Club Dinamo in Russia’s Super League. He led Dinamo to a Gold Medal in the Super Cup of Russia in 2009 and collected seven other tournament medals during his time with the club. 

Soloid played professionally for 23 years on teams in Argentina, Cyprus, Poland, Hungary, Israel, Turkey, Belgium and Russia. He captured Gold Medals as a player in both the Argentinian Professional League as well as in the Cup of Russial. 

Soloid earned his Master’s degree in Physical Education and Sport from Moscow State Academy of Physical Education in 2014. 

He and his wife Yulia live in Naples with their daughter Elizabeth (10).
