TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- Not only did the Florida SouthWestern Volleyball team prove themselves as the top team in the country on the court this season, they also turned out to be not so bad in the classroom as Thursday the Bucs were announced as the 2025 FCSAA Female Academic Team of the Year as the top academic team across all sports in the FCSSA this year.
The Bucs put together a program record 3.75 Team GPA this year, continuing a trend of academic excellence within the program. While it is the first time that the Bucs have been named the FCSAA's top academic squad, they have been awarded the AVCA Team Academic Award six straight years and are expected to add onto that number later this summer. The Bucs roster was made up of eight sophomores and seven freshman from 10 different countries and three different continents around the globe this year.
On the court the Bucs went 26-1, winning their fifth straight Conference Championship, their third straight FCSAA Championship, and became the first team in the divisional era to win three straight NJCAA Division I National Championships.
The 2025 Bucs begin their title defense on August 22nd and 23rd at home in Suncoast Credit Union Arena when they host the Battle at the Beach with four matches in two days in Fort Myers.
