FSW Ranked #1 For Fifth Straight Week

FSW Ranked #1 For Fifth Straight Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- For the first time in a while, the NJCAA National Rankings were relatively stable this week and that stability on the top meant that for the fifth straight week the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers were the #1 ranked team in the land as released by the NJCAA National Office Monday.

The Bucs were 2-0 last week to remain unbeaten on the season at 14-0.  FSW picked up their eighth win of the season over a ranked team on Thursday, sweeping #14 Hillsborough in Suncoast Conference action before fighting off a hard nosed Eastern Florida team 3-1 on the road on Saturday to move to 6-0 in league play.

There was only one move among the top 12 teams in the week five poll as Salt Lake and Snow switched places at #3 and #5 after a Bruin victory over the Badgers last week.  The Bucs were followed in the top five by Indian Hills, Salt Lake, Miami Dade, and Snow with Utah State Eastern, Western Nebraska, Trinity Valley, New Mexico Military, and Odessa rounding out the top 10.  Of the top 13 ranked teams in the week five poll, FSW has wins over five of those programs including three 3-0 sweeps.

FSW was scheduled for a showdown against #4 Miami Dade on Thursday but Mother Nature and her son Hurricane Ian had other ideas as the match has been postponed due to the impending storm.  The Bucs are next scheduled to take the floor on Saturday at home against Polk State at 3:00.  Stay tuned to @FSWBucs on social media and FSWBucs.com on the web for any potential changes to that schedule as well.
