Koehler Earns Second FCSAA Player of the Week Award

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- Continuing a hot start to her 2022 sophomore season last week, Florida SouthWestern outside hitter Barbara Koehler has been honored for her efforts by the state once again as for the second time in three weeks the Brazil native has been named the FCSAA Player of the Week.

Koehler led FSW to a 5-0 week including three wins over Top 15 ranked opponents.  She averaged 3.7 kills per set for the Purple and Aqua while hitting .354 on the pin. In the Bucs Suncoast Conference opener on Tuesday, Koehler banged home 13 kills and hit .480 in a 3-0 sweep of #10 Polk State on the road.  She continued her strong play as the Bucs traveled to Las Vegas over the weekend, putting up three straight double digit kill efforts against Arizona Western, #15 Seward County, and DII #11 Glendale.  Against Arizona Western she finished with 11 kills and a .333 hitting mark in a 3-0 FSW victory.  Friday against #15 Seward County she picked up 16 kills and hit .343 including seven kills in a come from behind 31-29 fourth set win to lead the Bucs to an emotional 3-1 win. Before the Bucs headed back to the Sunshine State on Saturday she collected 11 more kills in a 3-0 sweep of DII #11 Glendale, again posting an efficient .391 hitting percentage in the process.

On the season Koehler leads the state of Florida and ranks sixth nationally with 3.86 kills per set on the season while leading all FCSAA outsides with a .319 hitting percentage on the year.

Koehler's Player of the Week accolades are her second of the season, making her one of just three Bucs in program history to earn multiple POW honors during their careers.

Bucs fans will have plenty of chances to see Koehler and the Bucs in action at home this week as FSW kicks off a four game homestand at Suncoast Credit Union Arena tonight as they take on Santa Fe at 6 PM following by another 6 PM tilt with #15 Daytona State Thursday, and a 2 PM matinee against Indian River on Saturday.
