Cummings Becomes FSW Volleyball’s First Division I Signee

FORT MYERS, Fla.- History was made for the young Florida SouthWestern State Volleyball program on Thursday as sophomore Kianie Cummings became the first Buc to sign at the NCAA Division I level, inking her National Letter of Intent to play at East Carolina University. 

Cummings played in all 24 matches as a freshman for the Bucs during their inaugural season in 2019.  She led the club with 96 blocks on the season and also paced the team in hitting percentage at .316. She finished the season averaging 1.01 kills per set and 1.19 blocks per set for FSW.  She recorded two or more blocks in 22 of 24 matches including a career high 10 in the Bucs State Tournament win over #14 Central Florida.  She twice notched eight kills in a match, doing so in wins over Richard Bland and Florida Gateway.

She will head to Greenville to play for the Pirates who put together a 19-11 record during the 2019 season.  Like FSW, East Carolina had their 2020 season pushed to the Spring where they will look improve on a 3rd place finish in The American's East division from a season ago. 

Cummings and the Bucs will open their 2021 Spring season on January 22nd at home at Suncoast Credit Union Arena in the FSW Kick-Off Classic.
