On This Date In FSW Athletics History: FSW Volleyball Earns First Trip to FCSAA State Tournament

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- One year ago, the FSW Volleyball team got the call that they had been waiting for for a week, which brings us today's moment on our 'This Date in FSW Athletics History' series, the Bucs qualifying for their first trip to the FCSAA State Tournament.

Not originally thinking they made it, the Bucs were split up when they found out the news.  Their five All-Conference selections and Head Coach Thais Baziquetto-Allen were in Jacksonville to participate in the tournament banquet, while the rest of the squad was making last minute plans for Halloween.  The plans for both groups changed when they got the call that in less than 24 hours, they were all to be 300 miles away in Jacksonville for their first game.  As with the whole whirlwind, there was some confusion on who the Bucs had drawn in the bracket, that was eventually cleared up and they were scheduled to play #13 Hillsborough in the opening stanza.

The Bucs finished 2-2 at the tournament, good for 4th place.  Each of the teams that finished in front of them advanced to the NJCAA National Tournament where they all reached at least the quarterfinal round.

Stay tuned FSWBucs.com and @FSWBucs on social media later tomorrow as we continue our trips back in time to relive some of the top moments in FSW Athletics history.
