LEXINGTON, Ky.- The Florida SouthWestern State Volleyball Team was honored for their academics once again on Wednesday as they were named to a record breaking class of the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award for 2019-2020.
The award, in its 27th year of existence this season, honors volleyball teams across all levels, from high school, to Division I, who achieved a 3.30 or better cumulative team GPA during the 2019-2020 school year.
"Coaches have the most influence during difficult times," said AVCA Executive Director Kathy DeBoer. "Keeping student-athletes focused on their academic success when their volleyball identity was suddenly gone is leadership worth celebrating!"
The Bucs earned a 3.53 team GPA in their inaugural season, making themselves one of just 32 two-year colleges nationally to receive the award. They were also one of just two FCSAA schools to earn the award, joined by Indian River.
