Laureano Signs With GW

FORT MYERS, Fla.- One of the top players in Florida SouthWestern State Women's Basketball history has found her landing spot for her time after her Buccaneer career as Sheslanie Laureano signed on the dotted line with George Washington University Saturday to join the Colonials for the 2021-2022 season.

Laureano was named 1st Team All-Conference for the second straight season for the Bucs this year, leading FSW in scoring at 15.8 points per game and steals with 3.6 per contest during a Southern Conference Championship campaign.  She scored in double figures in all but two games for the Bucs this season including finishing her FSW career with a 30 point performance in the FCSAA State Tournament quarterfinals against Gulf Coast State.  Her name is spattered all over the FSW career record book as she checks in in the top 10 of nearly every individual category including scoring (5th), steals (3rd), rebounds (7th), assists (3rd), and 3 pointers made (4th).

Laureano will head to the Nation's Capital to play for the Colonials who will be under new direction next season after the hiring of former Stony Brook and America East Coach of the Year Carolina McCombs earlier this month.  GW went 9-14 overall last season and will be looking for their first winning season since 2017-2018 when Laureano joins them this fall.

Laureano is the first FSW Women's Basketball player to sign at the next level this season.  Stay tuned to FSWBucs.com to see where the other four FSW sophomores sign in the coming weeks!
