Bucs Close Regular Season Ranked 12th

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- A 24-6 regular season record was good enough for a #12 final national ranking for the Florida SouthWestern State Women's Basketball team on Monday as they dropped three spots in the final poll following a road loss to #22 Eastern Florida State.

The Suncoast Conference Champion Buccaneers wrapped up the regular season at 24-6 and have won 12 of 13 heading into the postseason. The Bucs tough schedule this season contributed to a few of the blemishes as all six of FSW's losses came to teams ranked inside the top 25.

The top five in the poll all remained the same this week as Trinity Valley continued to hold down the top spot with Western Nebraska at #2, South Plains at #3, Shelton State at #4, and Northwest Florida State at #5.  New Mexico and Hutchinson re-entered the top 10 after a brief stay on the outside looking in while Jones County and FSW dropped out after losses.

FSW will enter the FCSAA/Region VIII Tournament as the #1 seed from the Suncoast Conference after putting together an 8-1 mark in league play.  The Bucs will face a tough first round matchup though as they take on #6 ranked and defending National Champions Gulf Coast State in the quarterfinal round on Thursday, March 5th at 3:00 (CST) in Niceville.
