HIALEAH, Fla.- The #15 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers bounced back from their first back to back losses of the 2019-2020 season with a 74-51 win over ASA Miami on the road Tuesday night to improve to 5-4 on the year.

It was a pedestrian start for the Bucs who led the 1-5 Silver Storm by just three after one quarter of play at 18-15.  They turned things on in the second, outscoring ASA 25-11 to open up a 43-26 lead at the break at half.

FSW couldn't carry their momentum over into the second half though as they came out cold, shooting just 4-13 in the third quarter as ASA shaved five off the Bucs lead as the teams headed to the fourth.  The Bucs continued to struggle finding their shot in the fourth, but they tightened the screws on the defensive end, allowing just two fourth quarter field goals to the Silver Storm as they ran away with a 74-51 victory.

It was a struggle offensively for both sides as FSW shot just over 40% while ASA hit on just 36% on the night.  Nairimar Vargas-Reyes scored a game high 16 for the Bucs going an efficient 6-8 from the field while connecting on all three three point attempts. Sheslanie Laureano filled up the stat sheet, going for 15 points, 5 assists, and 4 steals while posting a +40 in the plus/minus category in the win.  Ta'Shonna Wright-Gaskins made the most of her first start of the season, scoring 11 points and ripping off a team best 6 steals for FSW.

The Bucs snap a mini two game losing streak with the victory and improve to 5-4 on the year while ASA continues a rough start at 1-5.

FSW will enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday before returning to action next Wednesday when they head back to Miami, but this time to take on Miami Dade.
