Bucs Move Up a Spot to #17 in Latest NJCAA Top 25

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Picking up two more wins over the weekend, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers raised up one spot to #17 in the latest NJCAA Top 25 rankings this week.

The Bucs sit at 10-2 on the year and are in the midst of a five game winning streak as they head into action tonight against DME Academy.  FSW set a program record on Friday, recording their fourth straight 100 point effort in a 100-85 win over Miami Dade.  They backed that up with one of their better defensive showings of the season, allowing just 47 points to visiting Daytona State in a win on Saturday afternoon.

The rankings remained mostly untouched this week with the first nine teams staying the same from week one.  Northwest Florida State, Trinity Valley, Tallahassee, Shelton State, and Chipola, who have combined for a 57-0 record thus far this season make up the top five for the second straight week.  The only new team that made their way into the top 25 this week was Midland at #25 while Central Arizona who had held the #15 post fell out after three straight losses, allowing the Bucs to jump up one spot.

FSW is home tonight against DME Academy at 5:30 before hitting the road to take part in the Palm Beach State Classic over the weekend where they will take on Indian River Saturday and the host Panthers on Sunday.

SUNCOAST CREDIT UNION ARENA
The Buccaneers compete in the brand new Suncoast Credit Union Arena. Suncoast Credit Union Arena is approximately 75,000 square feet and is home to the FSW basketball teams and a student athletic center. The arena seats approximately 3,300 fans and includes six skyboxes, a hospitality event center, competition courts that convert into recreational courts, athletic office space, student, faculty and staff wellness, and an athletic center with a fitness pavilion, men's and women's locker rooms and a weight training area. The arena has two Daktronics displays, on the north and south walls, that each measure 10 feet high by 20 feet wide. Both displays incorporate variable content zoning to each show one large image or they can be divided into multiple windows to show any variety of live video, instant replays, up-to-the-minute statistics, graphics and animations, and sponsorship messages. One-hundred feet of ribbon displays have been installed on the east and west walls of the arena. The ribbons provide the opportunity to supplement the content on the main displays as well as highlight sponsors throughout events.
