Bucs Come In at #18 In First NJCAA Regular Season Poll

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The FSW Buccaneers remained in the top 20 of the NJCAA Polls on Tuesday, as an 8-2 start to the season was good enough for a #18 ranking in the first regular season poll of 2018-19.

FSW has proven themselves as one of the top teams once again in the annually dominate NJCAA Region VIII.  The Bucs are 8-2 on the year and 6-1 against NJCAA Division I opponents.  FSW has played especially well of late, lighting up the scoreboard for three straight 100 point games last week.

The Bucs currently rank in the top 10 in the country in scoring at just under 87 points per game and have held their own on the defensive end as well, allowing just 63 a night.

Not a single team remained in the same place in the first regular season poll as they entered the season at in the preseason poll.  Northwest Florida, Trinity Valley, and Tallahassee lead the rankings in week one.  Along with the Raiders, Eagles, and Bucs, fellow FCSAA members Chipola (5) and Gulf Coast (10) find themselves in the rankings while Pensacola State was just on the outside looking in as they received votes as well.

The Bucs will take the court again on Friday and Saturday in Suncoast Credit Union Arena when they host Miami Dade and Daytona State for non-conference contests at 7 PM and 2 PM respectively.

SUNCOAST CREDIT UNION ARENA
The Buccaneers compete in the brand new Suncoast Credit Union Arena. Suncoast Credit Union Arena is approximately 75,000 square feet and is home to the FSW basketball teams and a student athletic center. The arena seats approximately 3,300 fans and includes six skyboxes, a hospitality event center, competition courts that convert into recreational courts, athletic office space, student, faculty and staff wellness, and an athletic center with a fitness pavilion, men's and women's locker rooms and a weight training area. The arena has two Daktronics displays, on the north and south walls, that each measure 10 feet high by 20 feet wide. Both displays incorporate variable content zoning to each show one large image or they can be divided into multiple windows to show any variety of live video, instant replays, up-to-the-minute statistics, graphics and animations, and sponsorship messages. One-hundred feet of ribbon displays have been installed on the east and west walls of the arena. The ribbons provide the opportunity to supplement the content on the main displays as well as highlight sponsors throughout events.
