Stephens Leads Bucs Past Broward

DAVIE, FLA.- Tina Stephens tied her career high with 29 points Wednesday night as #12 FSW ran past Broward 89-81 to take the season series from the Seahawks 2-1.

FSW led by two, 16-14 after the first quarter before opening up their lead to double digits at the half behind a 21 point second quarter. It looked like they had things in control as they led 62-45 after three, but things got crazy in the fourth as the two teams combined for 63 points, but with the clock on their side, time ran out for a Seahawk comeback and the Bucs held on for an 89-81 victory.

The Bucs shot 52% on the night, their second highest total on the season behind their last meeting with Broward.  FSW also shot 50% from the three-point line and 74% from the free throw line.  Tina Stephens led FSW with 29 points and 7 rebounds, including going 12-13 from the free throw line.  Shondell Vickers sparked the Bucs off the bench, scoring 18 points, going 6-8 from both the floor and the line.

FSW improves to 5-2 with the win and will take the court again on Tuesday when they host Impact Academy at 5:30 at Suncoast Credit Union Arena.

The arena has two Daktronics displays, on the north and south walls, that each measure 10 feet high by 20 feet wide. Both displays incorporate variable content zoning to each show one large image or they can be divided into multiple windows to show any variety of live video, instant replays, up-to-the-minute statistics, graphics and animations, and sponsorship messages. One-hundred feet of ribbon displays have been installed on the east and west walls of the arena. The ribbons provide the opportunity to supplement the content on the main displays as well as highlight sponsors throughout events.
