Bucs Earn Top Seed For National Tournament
FORT MYERS, Fla.- As if the target on their back wasn't big enough being the defending National Champions, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers will have the rings enlarged next week in Yuma, Arizona as Friday the NJCAA announced that the Bucs will head to the 2022 National Tournament as the #1 seed and will take on Georgia Military in their opening round game Tuesday at 3 PM (EST).

The Bucs finished the season ranked #1 before drawing the top seed as the South Atlantic District B Champions for the second straight season. FSW is 49-5 on the year and heads to the desert having won 26 of their last 27 contests.  The Bucs ran through the Suncoast Conference a perfect 20-0 this season and looked to do the same thing at the Region VIII Tournament, but were tripped up by Seminole State in the semifinals before bouncing back to defeat three straight 40 win teams in elimination games to eventually punch their ticket to the Big Dance.

FSW will square off with 16th seeded Georgia Military in the first round. The Bulldogs earned their way to Yuma with a Region XVII and Southeast District Championship.  The Bulldogs enter the tournament 38-21 on the season.

In the two teams last meeting in March of 2021, FSW had to come back from an 8-1 first inning deficit against the Bulldogs, scoring eight unanswered runs to eventually win 9-8.

The other two teams in the Bucs quadrant for the tournament at #8 Chattanooga State and #9 Southern Idaho who FSW split with in their 2022 home openers in February.
