HIALEAH, Fla.- NJCAA Softball teams in the Miami area are going to get real tired of the #3 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers; if they have't already. A week after outscoring Miami Dade 23-1 in a doubleheader, the Bucs put it on ASA-Miami 15-1 and 14-2 on Tuesday in a twinbill, improving their 2020 record to 10-1.  

 

It didn't take the Bucs long to get going in game one as their first two hitters of the top half of the 1st inning reached base and quickly scored to give FSW a 2-0 lead before the chalk settled on the baselines.  

 

The Bucs doubled their lead on one swing in the 2nd as Lindsey Corbin doubled home a pair with two outs and Natavia Ellis ripped a two run triple behind her to push the lead to 6-0. 

 

FSW continued to pour it on in the 3rd as Haley Ellefson helped herself with an RBI single and battery mate Taylor Jensen did the same to make it an 8-0 contest.  The merry go round for the Bucs continued as Rebeca Laudino drove home a run with a base hit and Feline Poot cleared the sacks with a triple to blow it open to 12-0.  

 

ASA got their lone run of the game in the bottom of the 3rd thanks in part to an FSW error, but the Bucs got that back and then a couple in the top of the 4th on RBI knocks from Corbin and Owen Bowers.  

 

Emily Perrin closed the Silver Storm out from there in the circle, preserving a 15-1 run rule win for FSW. 

 

The Bucs outhit the Silver Storm 15-4 in the game, with much of their damage coming at the top of the order where Laudino and Corbin each had 3 hits while combining for 5 runs scored and 5 RBIs.  Behind them, Ellis and Poot combined for 7 RBIs for FSW. Ellefson earned her fifth win of the year in the circle, going 3 innings, allowing 3 hits and an unearned run while striking out 4.  

 

 

The Bucs again jumped on the Storm early in game two as Laudino was plunked by a pitch to start the game and stole second and moved to third on a passed ball before scoring an an RBI fielder's choice from Janessa Plummer to give FSW a quick 1-0 advantage.  

 

ASA actually took an early lead, scoring a pair of 1st inning runs to go in front 2-1.  

 

The lead didn't last long for the home team though as Laudino tied the game on an RBI single in the top of the 2nd and Ellefson unloaded on a grand slam moments later to put the Bucs back in front 6-2.  

 

The Bucs blew the game wide open in the 4th.  Charlotte Drijvers, Bowers, Lexi Moore, and Corbin all had RBI singles, opening the lead up to 10-2 They weren't done there as later in the inning Laudino walked with the bases loaded and Drijvers doubled with the bases loaded to plate two more to make it 14-2.  

 

That is how things would finish after five as the Bucs finished the sweep with another run rule victory , this one with a 14-2 final. 

 

Eight of nine FSW starters had hits in the win as the Bucs finished the contest with 13 as a team.  Alyssa LoSauro had a team high 3 hits in the victory while Laudino finished 2-2 with 2 RBIs and 4 runs scored at the top of the order.  Drijvers and Ellefson provided the muscle in the middle of the lineup, combining for 7 RBIs.  Alyssa O'Donnell earned her first collegiate win on the rubber for FSW, going 3 innings, allowing 2 hits and 2 runs before giving way to Sarah Clontz who closed things out with 2 scoreless frames.  

 

 

The Bucs win their fifth and sixth straight to improve to 10-1 on the year with the sweep while ASA Miami remains winless at 0-6.  

 

FSW is back in action on Thursday when they take on Ave Maria at Cambier Park in Naples in a doubleheader beginning at 5 PM.
