CLEARWATER, Fla.- The #2 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers started 2020 the way they closed 2019, as one of the most feared offensive teams in the country as the Bucs pounded out 11 hits, 6 of them for extra bases in an 11-0 run rule win over Lake Sumter State to open up their season Saturday in Clearwater.

It didn't take the Bucs long to get going as Lindsey Corbin and Pallas Potter ripped singles to set the table and an RBI double from Feline Poot and a sacrifice fly from Haley Ellefson scored them to give FSW an early 2-0 lead.

After a second straight 1-2-3 inning in the circle from Ellefson in the top of the 2nd, the Bucs added to their lead in the bottom half of the frame, getting a leadoff double from Natavia Ellis and another two bagger from Taylor Jensen to score her to make it 3-0 FSW.

Ellis blasted her second double of the game in the 3rd, this time scoring two more for the Bucs, stretching their lead to 5-0 after three complete innings of play.

The Bucs continued their doubles parade in the 4th as Alex Hare came off the bench and smacked a two run double to left to make it 8-0 and later in the inning Charlotte Drijvers brought home a pair on a line drive single to left to push it to 11-0 FSW.

With the run rule just three outs away, Sarah Clontz came  in out of the Bucs' bullpen, striking out the side to finish things off, giving FSW an 11-0 win in five innings in their 2020 season opener.

The Bucs finished with 11 hits in the win, getting knocks from 9 different players.  Ellis led the way, finishing 2 for 2 with a pair of doubles and 2 RBIs for FSW. Potter also finished 2 for 2, scoring 3 times while Poot, Hare, and Drijvers each recorded 2 RBIs in their collegiate debuts.  Ellefson earned the win in the circle, going 3 perfect innings, striking out 2 for the Bucs.

The Bucs will be back in action on Tuesday in their 2020 home opener at City of Palms Park when they take on Broward in a doubleheader beginning at 4 PM.
