Closing In On 50th Win, Bucs Remain #1

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers were ranked #1 in the first regular season poll of 2019 and they don't have any intentions on giving that spot up as they remained the top ranked team in the nation for the seventh straight week as announced by the NJCAA on Tuesday.

FSW went 5-0 to improve to 49-1 on the year last week, earning wins over Polk State, #19 State College of Florida, and Hillsborough in the process. After suffering their lone loss of the year, the Bucs have rebounded with 16 straight wins, including nine by run rule.

The top of the poll looks familiar this week as FSW, Seminole State, and Chipola remain #1, #2, and #3.  Central Florida and Tyler flip flopped spots at #4 and #5.  Despite being jumbled up, the top 10 teams in the poll remained the same for the second straight week.

The Bucs have a chance to clinch their fourth straight outright Suncoast Conference Championship tonight when they travel to Avon Park to take on South Florida State.  They will then wrap up the regular season on Thursday if needed in a makeup game against Polk State.
