  • FSW Top 10 of 2018-19- #1, FSW’s 57 Game Winning Streak

    We have finally reached the top moment of the 2018-19 FSW Athletics year and what a year it was! We have counted down championships, and records, and firsts and today as we get to #1, we look back at arguably the most impressive streak for any school, at any level, in collegiate sports history.  Our #1 moment is the Bucs’ combined 57 game winning streak across their four sports.
  • FSW Top 10 of 2018-19- #2, Laudino’s Record Breaking Hit Streak

    In the long history of collegiate athletics there have been records that have stood the test of the time and those that are constantly changing.  Our #2 moment of the FSW Athletics year brings us to one that a Buc freshman now owns, Rebeca Laudino’s collegiate record 49 game hitting streak.
  • FSW Top 10 of 2018-19- #3, Bucs Take Over NJCAA Rankings

    Having already touched on a number of firsts during our countdown of the top 10 moments in the 2018-19 FSW Athletic season, as we work our way to #3, we have another.  Our #3 moment is the Bucs taking over the NJCAA National rankings with both Men’s Basketball and Softball finishing the regular season ranked #1, Women’s Basketball climbing into the top 10 for the first time in program history, and Baseball receiving their first national ranking in program history this year.
  • FSW Top 10 of 2018-19- #7, FSW Goes 4 For 4 in Suncoast Titles/All-Americans

    2018-19 was a magical year for Florida SouthWestern Athletics in a number of ways, but the most impressive of feats was the well-roundedness of the Bucs success.  Our #7 accomplishment of the year highlights just that, as all four FSW teams captured Suncoast Conference Championships and each also sported an All-American, both firsts in the Bucs young history.

    The second FSW Softball pitcher to find her way into the Bucs’ Top 10 is sophomore Kelsi Collins who checks in at #8 after being named the 2019 NJCAA National Pitcher of the Year.

  • Bucs a Cut Above the Rest in 2018-19

    The 2018-19 athletic season was a historic one for the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers.  The Bucs four squads each captured Suncoast Conference Championships and advanced to the FCSAA State Tournament, the only school in Florida to boast that, while FSW teams combined for a .865 overall winning percentage, easily the top mark in the Sunshine State and likely the highest nationwide.
  • 38 Bucs Bring Home Academic Awards For 2018-19

    Along with a historic year on the diamonds and the courts at Florida SouthWestern State this season, 38 Buccaneer student-athletes doubled down with excellent years in the classroom, earning Suncoast Conference, FCSAA, and NJCAA Academic Awards for the 2018-19 school year. 
  • Kelsi Collins Named NJCAA National Pitcher of the Year

    Florida SouthWestern State sophomore Kelsi Collins had the icing put on top of her 2019 cake on Monday as she was named the 2019 Dudley® NJCAA Division I Softball Pitcher of the Year.  Collins becomes the second Buc in just four years of program existence to win the award after righthander Courtney Gettins won it in 2016. 
  • Woods Heading to Syracuse

    Following an impressive career with the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers, sophomore Paris Woods has signed her National Letter of Intent to play at Syracuse University next season. 
  • School Record Four Players Named NJCAA All-Americans For FSW
    June 11, 2019
    Following a 54-3 campaign that included a dominating run to a fourth straight Suncoast Conference Championship, a school record four Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers were named NJCAA All-Americans on Monday as announced by the NJCAA National Office.  Earning First Team honors were Kelsi Collins, Rebeca Laudino, and Owen Bowers, joining Courtney Gettins as the only first teamers in program history, while Paris Woods was named to the Third Team. 
  • Collins, Laudino, Woods, & Bowers Named NFCA All-Americans

    Just days after the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers had four players named to the NFCA South All-Region team, the same four Bucs were tabbed All-American’s by the organization in a release on Friday.  Kelsi Collins, Rebeca Laudino, and Paris Woods were all named First Team All-American selections while Owen Bowers was a Second Team All-American choice.
  • Four Bucs Named NFCA First Team All-Region

    For the third straight season, four Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers have been named First Team All-South Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association as announced by the organization on Tuesday.  Earning the honors for their performances during a Suncoast Conference Championship season for the Bucs were pitcher Kelsi Collins, infielder Rebeca Laudino, designated player Owen Bowers, and outfielder Paris Woods.

  • Rivera Headed to Keiser

    After helping Florida SouthWestern State to a 107-8 record over the past two seasons, sophomore Elsie Rivera has signed to play next season at Keiser University in West Palm Beach. 
  • Collins, Stephens, Woods Earn FCSAA Year End Awards

    A trio of FSW Buccaneers were honored by the FCSAA last week at the annual CAA meetings as Kelsi Collins was named the FCSAA Female Athlete of the Year, Tina Stephens was named the Suncoast Conference Female Athlete of the Year, and Paris Woods was named the Suncoast Conference Student-Athlete of the Year. 
  • Six Bucs Land on All-State Teams

    Following a 54-3 season and a nine week run as the #1 team in the country, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers had six players named to the FCSAA All-State Teams as announced at the state’s annual awards banquet at the state tournament last week.  Kelsi Collins was honored as the State Pitcher of the Year after her spectacular sophomore campaign while Rebeca Laudino, Paris Woods, and Owen Bowers joined her on the First Team and freshmen Lindsey Corbin and Haley Ellefson were tabbed Second Team All-State. 
  • FSW Closes 2019 Ranked #2

    Despite a tough ending to their season on Monday in the NJCAA District H Championship game, the NJCAA pollsters rewarded the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers for their body of work on the year on Tuesday, giving the Bucs a #2 ranking to close the 2019 campaign.
  • Four Bucs Sign at Four Year Schools

    Four Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers signed their National Letters of Intent on Tuesday at City of Palms Park as Sarah Lawton and Madison Johnson will stay in Fort Myers and play at Florida Gulf Coast University, Kelsi Collins will head to the East Coast of Florida to play at Embry Riddle, and Alison Yawn will suit up for Warner University next season.
  • Bucs Drop Extra Innings Heartbreaker to End Season

    The #1 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers’ season came to a heartbreaking end Monday in the NJCAA District H Championship game as they dropped a 2-1, nine inning decision to #3 Chipola to see their 2019 season come to an end at 54-3.
  • District H Championship Game Suspended to Monday Tied at One

    Already a game packed with drama, Mother Nature decided to add a little bit more as Sunday’s NJCAA District H Championship game between #1 Florida SouthWestern and #3 Chipola was suspended to Monday morning with the game tied at 1 at the start of the eighth inning. 
  • Bucs Upended in State Title Game

    Despite entering the 2019 FCSAA State Tournament as the #1 team in the country, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers knew their path to a title would be anything but easy.  In a field that included five ranked teams and three in the top five, the Bucs ran into a buzz saw in the championship game on Saturday, dropping a 6-3 decision to #5 Central Florida and will have to try for a District H Championship on Sunday to extend their season. 
  • Bucs Win to Reach Fourth Straight State Title Game

    For the fourth straight year, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers will play for the FCSAA State Championship after defeating Indian River 9-5 in a wild semifinal on Friday. 
  • Quick Start Leads Bucs to State Tournament Win

    It was a workman’s like effort for the #1 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers in the opening round of the 2019 FCSAA/Region VI Tournament on Thursday as the Bucs put together a four run first inning and played a clean game on the defensive side of the ball to come away with a 6-1 win over #19 Seminole State to move onto the winner’s bracket semifinal Friday.
  • FSW's Rebeca Laudino Shatters All-Time Collegiate Softball Record with 49 Game Hit Streak

    Before Florida SouthWestern State freshman Rebeca Laudino was old enough to pick up a softball bat for the first time, the collegiate record for consecutive game hit streak was set at 44 games by Moravian’s Heather Bortz.  Last week, Laudino shattered that 15 year old record, recording a hit in her 49th straight contest to set a new all-time collegiate softball record.

    The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers retained their #1 ranking for the ninth straight week on Tuesday, leading a trio of Florida teams in the top five in the final NJCAA National rankings of the 2019 regular season.

    Wrapping up the regular season with another big week, Florida SouthWestern State sophomore Paris Woods has been named the FCSAA/Region VIII Player of the Week as announced by the state on Tuesday. 
  • 11 Bucs Named All-Conference, Laudino/Collins Earn Player/Pitcher of the Year

    Following their fourth straight Suncoast Conference Championship, 11 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers have been named to the league’s All-Conference team as announced by the conference on Tuesday.  Rebeca Laudino was named the Suncoast Conference Player of the Year and Kelsi Collins was honored as the Pitcher of the Year.

    The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers continued their reign atop the NJCAA National Poll on Tuesday as they were ranked #1 in the country for the eighth straight week as announced by the national office.
  • Laudino Grabs Second FPN National Player of the Week Award

    Finishing off a collegiate softball all-time record hit streak at 49 games last week, Florida SouthWestern State freshman Rebeca Laudino has been named the Fastpitch News National Player of the Week for the second time this season.
