Keys Signs to Play For Islanders
FORT MYERS, Fla.- Florida SouthWestern State sophomore De'Lazarus Keys is heading from one side of the Gulf to the other as the 6'8 big man has signed a National Letter of Intent to play at Texas A&M- Corpus Christi for the next two seasons.

Keys finished the season averaging 6.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per game for FSW which was second best on the team. He blossomed late in the season and in conference play, earning First Team All-Conference honors, averaging 9.2 points and 5.9 boards in the Bucs' final 12 games of the regular season.  Keys had three double digit scoring efforts on the year, all in succession in early January. He set career highs in back to back games with 16 against Hillsborough and 20 against Victory Rock and then finished the week with 13 in a win over State College of Florida.  He notched his first career double-double in the Hillsborough victory, collecting 10 rebounds, one of three double digit rebounding efforts on the year.

Keys helped FSW to a 59-5 overall record in his two years in Fort Myers.  During his tenure, the Bucs won back to back Suncoast Conference Championships with an unblemished 24-0 record in league play. FSW spent the final six weeks of the regular season ranked #1 in the National Poll, earning their second straight berth in the NJCAA National Tournament.

Keys will try to help push the Islanders over the hump as Texas A&M-Corpus Christi has finished each of the last two seasons at 14-18 overall and an even .500 in Southland Conference play.  Keys joins a six man signing class for the Islanders which includes three other junior college transfers.

Keys is one of seven Division I signees for FSW this season joining Keon Ellis (Alabama), Berrick JeanLouis (Iona), Jermaine Marshall (Akron), Ralph Bissainthe (Central Michigan), Simeon Kirkland (UAB), and Sebastian Guitian (South Carolina State).
