Bucs Slide to #6 in NJCAA Poll

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Suffering their first loss of the season in an overtime thriller on Friday, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers dropped four spots to #6 in the latest NJCAA Top 25 poll as announced by the NJCAA on Monday.

FSW is off to an 8-1 start to the season after splitting two games this weekend.  Besides their hiccup against Snow Friday, the Bucs have cruised this season, outscoring their opponents by an average of 24.4 points per game on the year.  A season after boasting the country's best field goal percentage defense, the Bucs are at it again this year, holding opponents to just 39% shooting from the field and 67.2 points per game.

There was lots of  movement in the poll this week with just two teams remaining in the same spot as a week ago.  Ranger was the lone top five team to hold their place, sticking at #1 while Hutchinson, Vincennes, Pearl River, and South Plains all move up to follow them.  The FCSAA has three of the top 10 with FSW at #6, Chipola at #7, and Gulf Coast at #10, four of the top 15 with Tallahassee at #13, and five of the top 20 with Northwest Florida remaining at #18.

The Bucs are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Miami to take on ASA Miami in a 7 PM tip before returning home to take on the Silver Storm in a matinee affair Sunday in Suncoast Credit Union Arena.
