Florida SouthWestern State College (FSW) head baseball coach Jamie Corr announced the hiring of Steve McKee as an assistant coach on July 19, 2016.

"Coach McKee is extremely plugged in to the national travel circuit and will be great for our student-athlete recruiting,” said Corr. “He is a versatile coach that will be counted on to assist in all aspects of practice and game management."

McKee, who has more than 10 years of coaching experience, comes to FSW after spending the last 11 years working in the private section for a global corporation. McKee last coached baseball at Florida Gulf Coast from 2002-04, where he helped head coach Dave Tollett start the program from scratch.

Prior to his stint at FGCU, McKee was the head baseball coach at Clearwater HS from 1998-2002 and an assistant baseball coach at Boca Ciega HS from 1995-1997.

Some of McKee’s coaching highlights include: reaching the state final four with Clearwater HS in 2001 and making the region semifinals in 2002, having 10 former players reach the MLB and having 36 former players drafted.

The St. Petersburg, Fla. native is a graduate of Florida State (’92). McKee and his wife, Lisa, have two sons: Zach and Jake.
