Buckley comes to FSW after spending the 2015 season as the pitching coach at the University of Rhode Island. At URI he guided the pitching staff to a team ERA of 4.07, while the team went 26-25 and advanced to the Atlantic 10 Championship game. Buckley’s Rhode Island staff featured Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Year and Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American Tyler Wilson and San Diego Padres draft pick Lou Distasio. Under Buckley’s tutledge Wilson became the first freshman to win Pitcher of the Year honors in Atlantic 10 Conference.

Prior to his stint in Rhode Island, Buckley spent the 2014 season at Dowling College, where he served as the assistant pitching coach as well as the team's scouting director. In his one season with the Golden Lions, he helped guide the pitching staff to the best team ERA in all of Division II (2.42). Additionally, Dowling posted an overall record of 36-17, claimed the regular season conference title and advanced to the finals of the NCAA East Regional.

Buckley’s Coaching experience continues with his roles in collegiate summer baseball. Coach Buckley spent the 2015 summer as the pitching coach of the Shelter Island Bucks of the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League. During his tenure with the Buck’s the team broke the all time wins record finishing with an overall record of 31-15 and winning the Franchises first HCBL Championship. Buckley’s staff featured the leagues Pitcher of the Year in right hander Anthony Alicki.

During the 2014 Summer Buckley served as the Pitching coach for the Ocean State Waves of the New England Collegiate Baseball Leage (NECBL). Buckley’s staff finished with the 3rd best ERA in the league and helped win the franchises first playoff game in team history.
