MILWAUKEE, Wis.- Former Florida SouthWestern State righthander Carlos Rodriguez was rewarded for his outstanding season in the Milwaukee Brewers system recently as he was named the Brewers' Minor League Pitcher of the Year for 2022.

Rodriguez was 6-5 with a 3.01 ERA in 107 2/3 innings pitched over two levels this season, making 20 starts and racking up 129 strikeouts.  A 2021 draft pick out of FSW, Rodriguez ranked in the top five in the Brewers' organization in batting average against (.198), WHIP (1.06), ERA (3.01), and strikeouts (129) this season. He got progressively better as the season went along, posting a 3-1 record with a 1.98 ERA and 45 strikeouts in just 36 innings pitched after his promotion to High A Wisconsin midway through the season including throwing six perfect innings against Peoria to earn Midwest League Pitcher of the Week.

Before joining the Brew Crew, Rodriguez was an All-Conference arm for FSW, going 7-2 with a 2.11 ERA in 10 starts for the Bucs as a freshman.  He struck out 62 and walked just 12 in 47 innings pitched during his time in Fort Myers.  At season's end, Rodriguez became the highest drafted player in FSW history when he went in the 6th round, 177th overall to Milwaukee.

Rodriguez, who is still just 20 years old, is already ranked in the Brewers' Top 20 prospects with MLB.com predicting his arrival to the Big Leagues as soon as the 2024 season.

The 2023 FSW Baseball team is making preparations to move into their new, all turf, on-campus stadium which is expected to open in January.
