CLEARWATER, Fla.- Chase Chatman and Brian Holiday dominated on the mound and the #9 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers banged out 11 hits at the plate Friday night to give the Bucs a 3-1 win over the St. Petersburg Titans to clinch their fifth consecutive Suncoast Conference series win.

The Bucs jumped in front right away in the 1st inning, taking advantage of a St. Petersburg error to start the game to score their first run and take an early 1-0 lead.

St. Pete tied the game at 1 with a two out solo home run in the 3rd.

Despite having traffic on the bases in each of the next three innings, the Bucs couldn't come through with the big hit, but they didn't need them as starter Chase Chatman kept the Titans off the board in the middle innings, keeping it a 1-1 game into the 7th.

The Bucs finally broke through again in the 7th as Jose Izarra doubled to left to begin the frame and came around to score on a single from Kendry Noriega to put FSW back in front 2-1.

Chatman was locked in again in the 7th, needing just 11 pitches for a 1-2-3 frame to keep the Bucs up 2-1.

FSW took advantage of another leadoff hit in the 8th, this time a leadoff single up the middle from Hunter Fitz-Gerald and a two out RBI single from Simon Baumer to cushion the lead to 3-1.

Chatman exited after getting one out in the 8th and handed the ball to Brian Holiday who continued the Bucs domination on the mound with a pair of strikeouts to get out of the frame and keep it a 3-1 game as the teams went to the 9th.

The Bucs couldn't add any insurance in the top of the 9th, but they didn't need to as Holiday slammed the door in the bottom of the inning to lock down a 3-1 win for the Purple and Aqua.

Chatman and Holiday held the Titans to just four hits in the win as Chatman went 7 1/3 innings and struck out seven to improve to 4-1 on the year while Holiday closed it out with 1 2/3 innings of scoreless baseball for his second save of the year.

Seven different Bucs had a hit in their 11 hit attack on the night with Tomaini and Baumer both picking up a pair of hits and driving in a run for FSW.

FSW improves to 27-12 overall and 14-3 in Suncoast Conference play with the win while clinching their fifth straight series victory after having taken the first two games of the three game set against the Titans with Friday's win. St. Pete's struggles continue as they fall to 14-21 overall and 4-13 in conference play.

The Bucs and Titans will wrap up the series Saturday in Fort Myers with first pitch set for 1 PM at City of Palms Park.
