Tuero Headed Out West, Inks With Arizona

FORT MYERS, Fla.- Florida SouthWestern sophomore Luis Tuero has done it all in the Sunshine State and is ready to head out West.  After winning a State Championship at Pace High School in Miami, playing two seasons with his hometown 'Canes, and suiting up this year for the Bucs, Tuero has signed to continue his career next season in the PAC-12 at the University of Arizona.

Tuero came to FSW after two seasons at the University of Miami.  As a sophomore he played in 13 games for the 'Canes before it was cancelled due to Covid-19. He hit .323 which was second best on the Miami roster, driving in eight and scoring six runs.  He had Miami's longest hitting streak of the season at eight games, including a pair of multi-hit games during the run.

Tuero heads to an Arizona program steeped in tradition, having reached the College World Series 17 times and claiming 5 National Championships which is fifth most all-time.  The 2020 Wildcats were primed for another postseason run, opening the season 10-5 including a win over Texas and a series win over Houston before Covid-19 cancelled their season just before the start of PAC-12 play.

Tuero will suit up for the first time as a Buc on January 22nd when FSW hosts the Marissa Gusto Memorial Tournament at City of Palms Park.
