Dobyanski Inks with South Alabama

FORT MYERS, Fla.- Another Florida SouthWestern Baseball player is headed to the Division I level as switch hitting outfielder Drake Dobyanski signed with the University of South Alabama where he will team up with former Buc Nate Madej who signed with the Jaguars last year.

Dobyanski played in 71 games for the Bucs over the past two seasons, putting together an on base percentage of .412 atop the FSW lineup.  He finished his career with 6 doubles, 3 home runs, and 23 RBIs while stealing 41 bases in 46 chances. His 41 career stolen bases are a school record while his 32 stolen bases as a freshman in 2019 are a single season program best.  Dobyanski had a knack for finding his way onto base for the Bucs, reaching via walk 44 times in his two seasons while also being plunked 21 times, including 18 as a freshman.

The most memorable individual week of Dobyanski's Buccaneer career came early in 2019 when he was named the NJCAA National Player of the Week after clubbing game winning home runs on the same weekend, against the two teams that played for the 2018 National Championship in Chipola and Walters State.

He will join a Jaguar squad that went 8-10 in their COVID-19 shortened season in 2020.  South Alabama has reached the semifinal round of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament in four of the past five seasons and has made two appearances in the NCAA Tournament during that time.

Dobyanski inking with South Alabama makes the 20th NCAA Division I signee for FSW over the past two seasons and the seventh off of their 2020 squad.
