Gusto Grabs Second Pitcher of the Week Honor

TALLAHASSEE, FLA.- For the second time this season, Florida SouthWestern State fireballer Ryan Gusto has been named the FCSAA/Region VIII Pitcher of the Week by his peers.

Gusto gets the honors after firing his first complete game shutout in a Bucs uniform last week.  He went the distance in a 5-0 FSW win over St. Petersburg on Saturday, scattering six hits while striking out 10. It was his second double digit strikeout effort of the year, coming on the heels of his March 25th start against Polk State in which he was also named the league's Pitcher of the Week.

Gusto and the Bucs have grabbed a leg up in the race for the program's first Suncoast Conference Championship with five games to go.  FSW sits at 17-8, atop a three horse race, one game in front of State College of Florida and a game and a half in front of Hillsborough.

FSW will take on Hillsborough in game two of their three game series on Wednesday at City of Palms Park in Fort Myers with first pitch scheduled at 6 PM.
