Four Bucs Combine On Perfect Game in Sweep

DELRAY BEACH, FLA.- It was a record breaking February for the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneer baseball team, but not even they could foresee the historic way that they would kick off the month of March on Friday.  After dismantling ASA Miami 14-2 in the first game of their split doubleheader, four FSW pitchers combined for the first perfect game in program history in game two in a 14-0  win over Elev8 Academy. 

In game one, the Bucs used their bats against ASA Miami, scoring three in the first and four in the second to jump out to an early 7-0 lead.  Drake Dobyanski had RBI knocks in each of the first two innings and Warner Rinconnes singled home two in the second to highlight the early scoring barrage from the Bucs.

ASA got a run in the fourth, but the Bucs quickly answered as Jose Marcano singled to left to push the lead back to seven at 8-1. 

Diego Millan put the game out of reach in the sixth as he doubled home a pair and added three more runs late before the run rule kicked in in a 14-2 FSW victory. 

The Bucs outhit the Silver Storm 12-7 in the game, also drawing 11 walks and getting hit by four pitches to help their cause.  Dobyanski led the FSW charge with three hits and two runs driven home while Tommy Joseph drove home three in the contest.  Mitch Myers earned his third win of the year on the mound, going five strong innings, allowing four hits and one run while fanning eight.  Marc Davis threw a 1-2-3 sixth with three strikeouts to lead the bullpen.

In game two, it was all about the pitching as the Bucs took on Elev8 Academy. 

Derek Rascher started the game and retired all six men he faced. 

Next up was Robert Weigielnik who continued the trend, throwing three scoreless innings without allowing a baserunner as the Bucs offense took care of business at the plate to put the game well in hand. 

Ryan Gusto tossed a 1-2-3 sixth for FSW and Thomas Haggerty closed things out with a perfect seventh to lock up the Bucs first perfect game in program history as they went on to win 14-0.

The Bucs improve to 17-3 through their first 20 contests. 

FSW returns home Saturday to City of Palms Park in Fort Myers to take on Pasco-Hernando in a 1 PM first pitch.
