Dobyanski Named FCSAA Player of the Week

FORT MYERS, FLA.- The big stage was certainly not too big for Florida SouthWestern State freshman Drake Dobyanski this week as the Buccaneers outfielder notched game winning RBI's against #2 Walters State and #1 Chipola over the weekend to earn FCSAA Player of the Week honors as announced by the league Tuesday.

Dobyanski only had six at bats in the four FSW games, but he made the most of each of them.  Friday against the nation's #2 ranked team in Walters State, Dobyanski tied the game early on with an RBI groundout and then hit a three run home run in his next at bat, eventually becoming the difference in a 9-6 Buccaneer win over the Senators.  Sunday he came up big again as the Bucs battled defending National Champions Chipola, driving in an insurance run in the 10th inning of FSW's 12-4 game one win and hitting a grand slam to break a 3-3 tie in the 7th inning of their 7-3 game two victory.  He finished the week 4 for 6 with four runs scored and nine RBI's.

Dobyanski and the Bucs are off to a 7-0 start, the best in program history.  For the first time in program history, the Bucs claimed the top spot in this week's FCSAA Coaches Poll with 163 points, garnering nine first place votes in the process.

FSW is back in action at home on Wednesday when they host ASA Miami at 6 PM at the Historic City of Palms Park in downtown Fort Myers.
