FORT MYERS, FLA.- The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers kick off their 2019 season Friday and Saturday at the Historic City of Palms Park in Fort Myers.  The Bucs will take on ASA-Miami to open the season once again with a single game Friday night at 6 PM and a doubleheader beginning at 1 PM on Saturday.

FSW turns to new Head Coach Ben Bizier to try to get things going this season.  Bizier takes over the reins for the Bucs after nine seasons at Broward where he was an assistant for four years before taking over as the skipper for the past five seasons.

The Bucs will look to make their first appearance at the FCSAA State Tournament this season after three seasons of hovering around the .500 mark.  FSW will have a slew of new faces to try to do so, returning just five players to the fold for 2019.  Four Bucs have already inked at the Division I level for next season including pitchers Mitch Myers (Pittsburgh), Thomas Haggerty (Florida Atlantic), and Ryan Gusto (Western Kentucky) as well as infielder Connor Bagnieski (Chicago State).  Major League scouts have taken note of Gusto's potential, with Perfect Game tabbing him as the #48 junior college prospect for the 2019 draft in a December release.

FSW will take on the Silver Storm in a three game set this weekend at the Historic City of Palms Park and will be back at home Thursday, January 31st when they host Miami Dade in a single non-conference matchup at 5 PM.  Admission to Friday's season opener is FREE with Saturday's twinbill returning to normal ticket prices at the stadium.
