George Sanders enters his seventh year as the Bucs' Director of Athletics after serving as the college’s Assistant Athletic Director/Sports Medicine and Compliance for three years. 

The past three years have been magical with Sanders at the helm as FSW has won four NJCAA National Championships, three in Softball, and one in Volleyball.  

Overall in the past five years, Sanders has watched as his Buccaneers have captured 16 Conference Championships and have made 10 trips to the NJCAA National Tournament including winning back to back to back NJCAA National Championships in 2021, 2022, and 2023 on the Softball diamond and on the Volleyball court last Fall.  The Bucs have shined in the classroom as well under Sanders' leadership with the school's first eight student-athletes named CoSIDA Academic All-Americans including the Two-Year Academic All-American of the Year Alyssa O'Donnell in 2021.  

Along with his duties with the Bucs, Sanders is also the FCSAA Region VIII Women's Commisioner which includes a number of duties on NJCAA National Committees.   

As the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine and Compliance, Sanders' responsibilities included overseeing the health and well-being of the FSW Buccaneers student-athletes, in addition to overseeing and ensuring program compliance.

Sanders brought more than 25 years of expertise as both an Athletic Director and with program compliance to FSW in 2015. He joined Florida State College Jacksonville as Athletic Director in 2005. Prior to FSCJ, he spent 18 years at Manatee Community College, now State College of Florida. During his time at MCC he served as a professional assistant in the health and physical education department, head athletic trainer and a full-time faculty member. He was named as the full-time athletic director in 1994.

Sanders, a Tennessee native, earned his Bachelor of Science degree in health, physical education and recreation from Carson-Newman College (now Carson-Newman University) in Jefferson City, Tennessee. He then earned his Master of Education degree in physical education from the University of Georgia.

Sanders is an active member of both state and national organizations in athletic training (NATA and ATAF), the Florida College System Activities Association and the National Junior College Athletic Association.
