FSW Volleyball, Softball, Women's Basketball Earn NJCAA Academic Team of the Year Awards
FORT MYERS, Fla.- All three Florida SouthWestern State women's athletics teams were honored by the NJCAA on Monday as the Bucs Volleyball, Softball, and Women's Basketball teams were named NJCAA Academic Teams of the Year by the organization.  
 
The Bucs Volleyball squad led the way with a department high 3.53 team GPA in their inaugural year.  The mark ranked in the top 25 nationally and second in the state of Florida.  On the floor FSW made some noise as the new kids on the block, going 16-8 overall and 4-2 in Suncoast Conference action to qualify for their first FCSAA State Tournament in their first opportunity, winning a pair of games there to finish 4th.  
 
The FSW Softball team posted a 3.37 GPA to earn their way onto the list. It ranked in the top 50 nationally and was fifth best in the Sunshine State.  The Bucs finished their Covid shortened season 23-2 and were well on their way to pushing for another FCSAA State Championship and trip to the NJCAA National Tournament before the stoppage.  FSW finished the year hitting .434 and averaged over 10 runs per game in their 25 contests. 
 
The Bucs Women's Basketball team made their way onto the list by posting a 3.01 team GPA in 2019-2020.  FSW was one of just three FCSAA teams named to the list.  The Bucs earned their second straight bid to the NJCAA National Tournament this season, going 24-7 overall and winning their third straight Suncoast Conference Championship with an 8-1 record.
